FAQ

Is Bothmer like yoga or tai chi?

Not really. It’s simpler, more spatial, and less about stretching or flow. The focus is on how you relate to space. Unlike yoga or tai chi, which were developed in the India/China 3,000+ years ago, Bothmer was developed in Europe, approximately 100 years ago – in other words it is designed for the modern western context, not the ancient, eastern context.

Do I need to be fit?

No. Bothmer adapts easily to all levels. While it will develop your fitness, the emphasis is on the connection to space, not strength or endurance.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes — Bothmer was originally developed for educational settings, especially the puberty and post-puberty phases of childhood during which the physical body matures and develops strength.

How long is a session?

Typically 45–90 minutes. Retreats may include 4-6 Bothmer sessions per day, plus other movement activities.

Do you teach online?

No, all Bothmer sessions are face-to-face – this is the only way to experience and communicate spatial principles.
